26 Acts of Kindness

So ever since Friday my heart has been a little heavier than usual
I went to bed the night before so excited that I wouldn't have to set an alarm to wake up
I told myself that no matter how many times my phone buzzed, I was not going to wake up for it
So that morning my phone buzzed a few times like it always does in the morning but I ignored it
*Side note: I get all the breaking news updates sent to my phone from USA Today
So at one point when my phone buzzed I decided to look at it
It wasn't a text message, or a Facebook post, or a tweet
It was the USA Today update telling me that there had been a school shooting in Conn.

I'm not from Conn. nor do I know anyone from there
But as soon as I saw that on my screen I couldn't go back to sleep
I just layed in bed with a heavy heart and a feeling it wasn't good
As the day went on and more details started to come out I got more sick to my stomach

As a future teacher it made me wonder what I would have done
How I would have reacted
Now I don't have children, but I have two nephews and a niece and I have a lot of little cousins
So to think that this could have been one of them scares me
And I hurt for those families and those friends who lost their children and their friends and their wives or mothers or aunts or sisters
I have not stopped praying since that morning

As the week has gone on I have wondered to myself "how can I help"
What can I do
Then I found this Facebook page and I knew that was it
I am going to do 26 Acts of Kindness in memory of those sweet children and those brave faculty members from Sandy Hook Elementary School
I know this doesn't directly help the families that are suffering but I am hoping by doing this that I will help to show people that there is still good in this world
I hope this will brighten someones day and maybe make them smile a little more
And I hope it will make them stop and think about those innocent lives that were lost that day and maybe send a prayer up to the Big Man asking for a hand of blessing over those directly affected by this horrible tragedy
Photobucket
This is the little list I am using and attaching to every act I do
You can either save it from here or download it from here

I have decided to make this a link-up because I would love to see what you all do!
I think it would be a great way for us bloggers to show people that there really are good hearted people out in this world still.
I will be posting my 26 Acts of Kindness post on December 27
So if you would like to link-up please do so on that day!

Adult Work Weeks

I would like to know what genius came up with the idea of a 40 hour work week
Maybe someone who actually enjoyed getting up before the sun is even awake
Or maybe someone who thought they would rather spend their life at work instead of home
Whoever this person was ... I despise you

I am currently in the middle of my first ever adult work week
That's right people, I have never worked a full 40 hours in my life
Now I do go to school full time and I work 20 hours but this is totally different
This whole waking up before 7 am thing and being at work until the sun sets is stupid
I hate it
I am so tired and the week is only half way over
I'm not even thinking straight
(This will be me on Friday)
Hell I wasn't even thinking straight on Monday...
That's when I knew this was going to be a long week
Now don't get me wrong, it's not like my job is that hard
I mean I sit at a desk staring at a computer monitor for the whole day
But listen to me when I tell you that the Internet gets boring after about a half hour
So what am I supposed to do for 40 hours hmm?
In two days I will be on Christmas break and I cannot wait
10 glorious days off
But then it's back to work
And then it's back to class
And it's a never ending cycle
But seriously, who thought 40 hours a week was a good idea
I would like to speak to them
I know, I know, all I am doing is complaining
But I'm sure at least one other person on this planet agrees with me
(My job)
I never want to work full time in my life
Do you think I can start applying for rich house wife now?
Or should I wait?
Where do I apply for that anyways?
Do you think they have an application on the Internet?
I'm thinking that might be too much work too.
I may just be a stay at home single woman living with a million cats
Who knows where this life will lead me...
I know where it will lead my
Straight to the movie theater to see this!

The Making of Our Wonderful Gingerbread House

Now, I use the word "wonderful" lightly
This may not be the best gingerbread house ever
But that's alright
According to Dylan this was the first time he's actually made one
He thought we were going to like make our own gingerbread and everything
He obviously doesn't know me very well
I buy the kit
Well I had my mom buy it
And she almost bought one for me that was preassembled
Yeah, I'm a princess
Anyways, we had fun making it and decorating it
And we didn't really take it seriously
But we had fun and that's all that matters

 Trying to decorate the tree
Decorating the front of the house... wait for it...
Trying to get a picture of him with the house .. anddd my sister photobombed it
Attempting to take a decent picture
It took us like 15 tries

And the final result
Let me tell you ... he did most of the decorating
Alright, maybe I decorated that little gingerbread man over there
But I was in a hurry to play Super Mario

Did you make a gingerbread house yet?
Are you going to?
You better!
Happy decorating!

How to Snapchat ... The Right Way

Okay so have any of you heard of this new thing called Snapchat?
Well I have
And let me tell you, when I first did I thought "man sooo stupid"
And my boyfriend said "you do not need another form of social media"
But did I listen to either of us and just not download it?
Of course not, because then I wouldn't be my actual self
So I got it
And I love it
Really all you do is send embarrassing photos of yourself to someone
Because let's face it, who doesn't love to do that
Especially when you know that the other person only has a certain amount of seconds to see it
Then it is gone forevaaa
Well, I mean I don't know if it's really gone ...someone controlling Snapchat probably has it hooked up to where they can always see all of our pictures .. but whatever

Anyways ... steps to properly Snapchatting

Step 1. Send funny/embarrassing picture of oneself
This would be the "I burnt my tongue a week ago and it still hurts" picture I send to my sisters everyday
Step 2. Receive funny/embarrassing picture back
Since I don't think I could get my sisters to actually send me embarrassing pictures let's just pretend it's them ... you get the point
Step 3. Send one back
This would be my kissy face or duck face or whatever face you want to call it
Step 4. Again, receive one in return

Step 5. Again send one back to the person

And that folks, is how you Snapchat
And this is what I do every day
From the moment I wake up until the moment I go to bed
Like me and my sisters actually send good morning and good night pictures
And let me tell you ... we look hot
I even get "potty break" or "shower time" pictures from my sisters
Yeah, we're that close
Be jealous

Anyways Happy Wednesday!
Two days from the weekend!

Wait, was the world supposed to end today?
I thought that was the 21st?
Anyways, congrats on making it to today!
The world did not end!

Seriously so funny

So I have recently stumbled upon a website called BuzzFeed
So.Funny.
Like I laugh out loud at some of the stuff on this site
You really need to go check it out

And now for the numerous examples because I cannot contain myself

This one is from 28 Reasons Why Kids Ruin Christmas
This is showing that they are functionally useless
Which is totally true

"Congratulations kids you are the reason Santa drinks"

From 27 Reasons Why Kids Are The Worst
They enjoy kicking people in the face
Rude

Showing you how to survive finals week
This girl knows how to do it right

They have this video

Pinterest fails

They have all the Raven GIFS you could want
I wish this show was still on TV... :(

This year, among other things, we learned how to react appropriately from Amy Poehler

And that is just the start of how funny this site is.
Seriously go look at it
Now.
Get off here.
Bye.
