Mid-Year Resolutions

June. The sixth month of the year. The half way point. The time people take to reflect back on whether or not their New Year resolution has stuck. Or not. Because if you're like me then your NYR went out the door on January 2. So I think we should make a Mid-Year Resolution. Because frankly I really need to start doing things to better myself and my blog and I need some sort of motivation to do it.

Two days ago when I started writing this post I told myself I was going to really get on top of things. I have yet to do anything I told myself I was going to do. But maybe by writing it and telling all of you, I'll keep myself accountable.

So goals:

1. Eat better. I think I put this one on this blog at least 34 times a year but really though. I eat crazily bad and it needs to STOP.
2. Do some sort of exercise. It doesn't have to be like a full blown work out, but I feel like I need to do more than walking from my car into the apartment.
3. Stop being late to things. I'm like a chronically late person. It's a bad habit. I got "Always late" as one of the senior favorites in high school. I need to fix this problem.
4. Cook more at home. This one probably goes hand in hand with eat better but I really need to start learning how to make my apartment not smell like it burned down after I make something on the stove.
5. Start applying to big girl jobs. My internship will soon be over and then it's time to step out into the real world and start applying for those salaried jobs that come with a 401k or whatever that is. S.O.S.
6. Blog more. My life isn't super duper exciting, but I really do enjoy blogging and writing. So just for myself I need to get on here more than once a month.
7. Catch up on more blogs, and start reading blogs that have to do with what I want my career to be.
8. Get together with friends more often. Too much lately I have just been coming home from work to cuddle with Luke the rest of the night. Which is totally fine but sometimes I need to get out to see people.
9. Take Luke more places. Oh, and get him trained. A few months ago our new vet told us he wasn't allowed back until he was trained. And he's suppose to go back in September. Ugh.
10. Live life to the fullest. That one explains itself.

Now it's your turn to make some mid-year resolutions. What are they? Do you think you'll keep them?

How National Donut Day and My Weekend Went

Friday was National Donut Day but I'm sure you all knew that already. Especially if you have an Instagram account. I had this big plan where I was going to make like six different donut recipes and take them to my internship and to Roadhouse and to my parents. So I got this huge list of groceries that I needed. Sidenote: there were also a lot of groceries I didn't need because I'm sort of a grown up and already had a bunch of them. Hashtag, winning. Anyway, so I compiled my list of needed and set out to my local, lovely Wal-Mart. Because that's the only place where I live to buy anything. So I went through and got all of my groceries first, which looking back was a bad idea, because when I went to go buy donut pans they didn't have any. WHAT?! It's National Donut Day and you don't have donut pans? Okay, cool. So back I went to put all of my groceries in my cart back. Another sidenote: is that like a sin? Am I suppose to not put those back after I've put them in my cart? Obviously new to this whole grown up thing so I'm not sure. Whatever, I did it anyway. So I had to resort to buy already made donuts from their little bakery section. Really all I wanted was to take a picture for Instagram so I could fit in with the cool kids. I didn't even eat the donuts. I took them to my parents. But I got my picture, plus a few.
It was obviously a progression done by Luke. He went from not realizing they were there, to seeing them, to wanting to eat them, and to being so tired from smelling donuts while I took pictures.
And then Reese got ahold of some. The pictures explain themselves.

So then on Saturday I got to work during the day but decided that I wanted to go swimming. I simply sent out a text message to my cousin and the next thing I know I'm swimming, eating Tropical Sno, eating dinner with them, and fishing with them. We may (okay, Heather may) have only caught two baby fish that could have been bait for the fish we wanted to catch, but it was still fun. Ethan and Aiden have acquired Ben's love of being on the lake, the same love I share. And Ethan also acquired my love of casting the pole and then reeling it back in .5 seconds later to recast if we don't get a bite. I seriously love spending time with my family. I have the best family and please don't try to tell me any different. Okay, bye.

Oh, hey there friends

Yes, I'm still here. A lot has happened since the last time I talked to all of you. I'm three weeks into a six-week internship, I'm only at Texas Roadhouse like once a week, my little sister went to a bunch of proms and graduated from high school, and I hung out with Luke a lot. Okay, maybe that last part isn't so different from the last time I talked to you but of course I had to include him in it.

I'm interning at HLK in St. Louis and I seriously love it so much. I didn't know I could fall in love with working somewhere so fast, but I have. Really though, how awesome would it be if it turned into a real big-girl job!? I might die. I'm learning so much in such a short amount of time. They don't have me running around getting coffee, they have me and the other interns coming up with an actual project and really pitching our idea to people. It's crazy to me and exciting and like I said, if I could live here I would. I didn't say that? Well, now you know. Embarrassing.

My little baby sister graduated from high school back in May and I could not be prouder of her than I was that day. She was one of the valedictorians and they gave the most adorable speech. She has worked so hard to get to where she is now. And she thought she wanted to be a vet when she goes off to school in August but after shadowing one the other day and witnessing a german shepherd being neutered, I don't know if she wants to do that anymore. I think the whole passing out during it and waking up with her shoes off might have given her the idea that something like studying Mass Communication might be more down her route. Who knows.

The Hawks are in the Stanley Cup final, in case you weren't aware. And if that's the case then bye. Joking, kind of. But I wore a Hawks jersey one night during the regular playoffs and they lost so I haven't worn one since and now look where they are. So I only have like 1 picture in my jersey. Sad, I know.

Nick was gone for pretty much two weeks in a row a couple weeks ago and Luke decided that because of that he was going to turn into the biggest brat ever. Not even joking. He peed every day Nick was gone (this isn't an exaggeration). He sometimes peed twice in the apartment. He sometimes pooped inside along with peeing inside. And also tore up four pillows. It was the longest two weeks of my life. He hates being home alone. I guess that's my fault. Whatever. So he was put in timeout behind the couch a few too many times.

So now here are a bunch of pictures because that's my life and I love taking pictures of everything I do. Hopefully I'll see you all sooner rather than later.

The view from my office. There's my other favorite place straight ahead. The one place I swear if it was legal and not looked down on, that I would set up a tent and live. (Busch Stadium in case you were unaware).

Beyonce KILLED It Last Night

I could literally write an entire post and then some dedicated to how much I love the Queen. I almost peed myself when I got to go to her concert awhile back. So when I heard she was going to be at the MetGala I could not WAIT to see what she would be wearing. I had to wait and scroll and wait and scroll some more, but alas, she made her arrival and it was worth the wait people. While waiting and scrolling I got to see everyone else's outfits at the Gala and have come up with my list of who else I think killed it. Even if they didn't come near as close to killing it as the Queen herself did.

Some might think that RiRi killed it even harder than Queen Bey did, but when you look like a giant omelette on the Red Carpet, the only thing you're killing is my appetite.

I would also like to add a side note that since I'm so fashionable that my opinions are greatly valued by a lot of people.

Also, I got all of these pictures from BuzzFeed. Bye.

Always a Bridesmaid, Never a Bride

Kind of. Since I'm only 23 I guess that doesn't really matter. But being in two weddings in two weeks definitely has me feeling that way. It also has me planning my own, non-existent wedding down to every last detail. But we'll save that for another day. This past weekend I was in my friend's wedding. It was a gorgeous wedding and reception and seriously so fun. It's the first wedding of a friends that I've been in and I loved it. I especially loved that the bride let us wear Vans for the entire day. Even the ceremony. Most comfortable, genius idea ever.

We started getting ready at 7:45 Saturday morning, which I didn't know was an actual time since Luke and I sleep until like 9ish (sometimes 11ish) every day. But when I got to her parents house it was decorated so cute with the colors of the wedding and my best friend Mimosa was there. So getting ready at 7:45 wasn't too bad. Then it was off to the church to get our dresses on and get her married. During the ceremony the funniest thing happened. The maid of honor forgot to bring the ring. Seriously almost died laughing. In her defense we had been outside taking pictures and when we got done it was time to walk so no one even thought about it. But she had to run to the room we had gotten ready in during the ceremony and grab the rings. Thankfully she remembered that she had forgotten them before it was time to exchange the rings. After the ceremony it was time for more food, we had food for us all day and let me tell you, I took advantage of it. We got some more pictures taken, hopped in our hummer limo and went to the reception. Since I went a little too crazy at Courtney's wedding I decided to take it easy for this one and was the only person drinking water. However, I'm sure no one judged me because they probably all thought I wasn't old enough to drink anyways. Whatever. The reception was so fun, the speeches all made me cry, and I sweated from dancing too much. By the end of the night my feet didn't hurt but I was so tired. I think I passed out two minutes after I got home. And then slept in on Sunday, and took a two hour nap, and went to bed by 10. Wow, I'm secretly 83 and not 23. Surprise.

My dress and denim vest are both from Old Navy. I seriously love that place right now. They have really stepped up their game.
